One of my mother’s favourite books was ‘The Secret Garden’ . She had Alzhiemer’s Disease and stayed at a wonderful nursing home which had a lovely walled garden where we spent some good times together. I kept a sketch book and painted while we sat and enjoyed the garden. There was a gate in the wall with this view to an overgrown orchard which reminded us of ‘The Secret Garden’. It was good to feel something creative came from a challenging situation. I made a book based on the paintings I did in the garden.
